“Lines in the Sand”

Christina Heliker is a retired geologist who worked at the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory for 23 years. After taking thousands of photographs of lava, she now has turned her camera to other subjects. The exhibit “Lines in the Sand” focuses on the intricate patterns and forms created by sand­-from the dunes of Death Valley to the black-and-white sand beaches of Puna.

Wailoa Art & Cultural Center is a Division of State Parks, Department of Land and Natural Resources. It is free and opened to the public Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday from noon to 4:30 p.m. The Center is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and State Holidays.
